‘How dare he’: Biden rebukes special council claim he forgot date of son’s death

The US president, Joe Biden, defended his memory in a short speech after a report from the justice department questioned his ability to remember key events and facts. The report also exonerated Biden over his handling of classified materials. Biden disputed some press reporting that he had ‘wilfully retained documents’ and said the special counsel report’s descriptions concerning the date of his son’s death were ‘extraneous commentary’ that ‘had no place’ there. Biden’s remarks came after an earlier statement in which the US president welcomed the finding that he should not face criminal charges.
